EU funds training on economic reporting for Lao journalists

(KPL) Sixteen Lao journalists from newspapers, radios and TVs in Vientiane Capital would be able to upgrade their knowledge on economic development in Laos and financial issues so as to enable them to raise the standard of reporting on matters related to economy.

This training course is being organised by the Lao Journalists Association between 21 June and 9 July. The European Union would be funding this course. 

The opening ceremony of the training course was attended by Deputy President of the Lao Journalists Association, Mr. Somsanouk Mixai. 

Mr Somsanouk Mixai, Deputy-President of the Lao Journalists Association said that it was a follow-up of the training course that was held during the 2008-2009 fiscal year and also funded by the EU. 

Regarding the current training course for the fiscal year, 2010-2011, the EU would provide the staff to teach economics and economic reporting.

Mr Somsanouk also said for this course in 2010-2011, there would be three sessions. The topics would include economic development in Laos, human trafficking and HIV/AIDS.
