(KPL) The Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) has given over 2.1 billion kip (USD 250,000) to the Water Resources and Environment Agency (WREA) to finance the latter�s capacity building on environment management.

An agreement on the assistance was signed in Vientiane Capital on June 21 between Head of the Water Resources and Environment Agency, Mr. Monemany Gnoibouakong, and EPF Director, Mr. Soukkata Vichith.

The project on capacity building of the Water Resources and Environment Agency will be implemented within two years.

Its activities include the establishment of a budget planning system for a centralised inspection and monitoring of water resources and environment management by relevant officials as well as the enhancement of collaboration between the Water Resources and Environment Agency and relevant bodies such as the Environment Protection Fund, World Bank and Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Planning and Investment.
